Bio
Gary A. Schonwald was born in
Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1942. He is a member of the bar
in New York and Florida and is a Solicitor-at-Law in England and
Wales.
Following a clerkship with the
Honorable Edward J. Dimock (United States District Court for the
Southern District of New York), he joined Paul, Weiss, Rifkind,
Wharton & Garrison as a tax and corporate associate.
In 1973, Gary established an independent practice which
became Schonwald, Schaffzin & Mullman. In 1989, Gary joined Tenzer, Greenblatt, Fallon & Kaplan, now
Blank Rome LLP and in 1997 he joined Frankfurt, Garbus, Klein
and Selz where he headed the corporate group. Throughout
his career he has represented clients in a broad range of
mergers and acquisitions in both the public and private arenas. In 2003, he joined the firm as a member.
Gary services
clients in a broad range of corporate and intellectual property
matters including private venture capital, bank financing,
mergers and acquisitions, public securities, software
development and licensing, technology licensing, music licensing
and magazine formation and acquisition.
Gary has served on
the Boards of Directors of a number of private and non-profit
entities and is currently a director of the Mint Theatre Company
in New York City.
